Looking back at my two years at DSIMS, the moments that shaped me most were not always the ones inside the classroom.

I completed my MMS in 2023, and I’m now working in Branch Operations at Aditya Birla Finance Limited. Every day, I use the skills, confidence and mindset I built at Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies (DSIMS), one of Mumbai’s well-known B-schools.

Why DSIMS felt like the right place

DSIMS is known for its strong academic programs, supportive faculty and lively campus culture. The college encourages innovation and critical thinking, and its facilities, research opportunities and extracurricular activities make the learning experience well-rounded. What stood out to me was the diverse and inclusive community. Students are encouraged to share ideas, discuss openly and think beyond their own perspective.

Annual events that helped me discover myself

The annual events at DSIMS, whether sports, cultural or functional, were where I truly explored my skills. Being part of these events taught me teamwork, planning and handling responsibility, and they played a big role in helping me grow into a more confident person.

My most memorable experience was Sabrang in 2022. I participated in it and also helped organise it. Doing both gave me a chance to show my abilities at different levels, from taking part on stage to managing things behind the scenes. Every event left me with a memory I’m proud of, because the effort and the results were always worth it.

Faculty, friends and the freedom to be myself

Apart from academics, I gained skills that will stay with me forever, friends I’m proud to have, and faculty who continue to guide me from college to corporate life. At DSIMS, I always felt free to express my thoughts and feelings. Faculty, students and alumni never judged me for them, and that openness helped me grow.

A strong alumni network that makes corporate life real

The alumni connect at DSIMS is one of its biggest strengths. Speaking with alumni gave me a real, first-hand picture of corporate life, which made my own transition from college to work much smoother.

Moving from campus to corporate

My two years at DSIMS were the final chapter of my student life, and they gave me a great start to my career. They also gave me the confidence to chase my life goals.

My advice for future MMS students

Take part in everything you can, whether it’s a sports event, a cultural fest or a functional activity. Volunteer to organise, not just participate. Stay close to your faculty and connect with alumni early. These experiences teach you things no textbook can.

I’m proud to be one of the colours of the DSIMS rainbow, an institution that creates new leaders and helps build the future of our country.
